  1. Chapter 1

    A stranger in the jungle

He walked into the jungle knowing almost nothing. No map, no friends, and a wallet that had barely seen a sunrise. Around him a thousand things were shining, and he did not know what a floor was, or a trait, or why anyone cared about rarity.

Then he stopped in front of me. He could not explain why, and he never really tried. The deal was done before he understood what he had done, and that night I slept in a wallet that was almost empty: his first ape, and nearly his first anything on Solana.

  2. Chapter 2

    The fire behind the trees

He did not know what to do with me, so he followed the noise. Behind the trees there was a fire, and around the fire there were apes: laughing, arguing, trading stories until late at night.

He asked the questions every newcomer asks, the ones that feel too simple to say out loud. Nobody laughed at him. Somebody always answered, patiently, as if they had been waiting for him. That was the night he stopped being a stranger.

  3. Chapter 3

    More than a drawing

Outside the jungle, people told him I was just a picture. A drawing on a screen, they said, and he almost believed them.

But every morning there was someone to say good morning to. There were games, giveaways, long nights and friends he had never met in person and trusted anyway. Slowly he understood what I had always known: I was not the picture. I was the key to the clubhouse, and the club was the treasure.

  4. Chapter 4

    A brother for the road

A few weeks later he came back from the market with another ape: #5339. I will be honest: for one night I was jealous.

Then I understood. He had fallen for that one the way you fall for a song you hear once and never forget. Since that day it has been his face in the club: every message, every vote, every good morning wears it, and the apes around the fire know him by it. I did not mind. I opened the door, and #5339 became the face that walks through it. I stayed where I always was, in his wallet, the first of us.

  5. Chapter 5

    Keeper of the fire

A year went by and I was still with him. He was not a stranger any more.

Now he is the one who answers the newcomers' questions, slowly and without laughing, the way the club once answered his. He started building new rooms in the clubhouse so that the next ape who walks in lost will find the fire faster. And when someone asks him why he never let me go, he only says: this ape brought me home.
